Manchester United sets a new record

Written By: Oladayo Juan Joe Bamidele

English football giant, Manchester United has recorded revenues of £515.3m for the 2016. This made them become the first UK football club to
do so.

The Old Trafford club won the FA Cup, signed 14 sponsorship deals, also saw commercial, matchday and TV revenues rise.

Barcelona's €679m (£570m) revenue revealed in July still remains higher than that of the English giant.

"Our record fiscal 2016 financial performance reflects the continued underlying strength of the business and the club is on target to achieve record revenues in 2017, even without a contribution from the Champions League," said executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

United signed Juventus midfielder for fee around to £89m; their summer spending going over 150 million pounds.

My View
Manchester United will for some time remain UK's leading club in terms of revenue and wealth.
