Özil: Iwobi reminds me Jay Jay Okocha

Written by: Oladayo Juan Joe Bamidele

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil has heaped praise on colleague, Alex Iwobi, saying the Nigeria youngster brings back the memory of his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha, who once played for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Iwobi has turned out to be a first team player regular at Arsenal since the middle of last season.

The German told UK Sun, “He reminds me of his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha. He was a player I loved watching.

“Alex reminds me of a mixture of him and Edgar Davids. He’s really strong on the ball, also defensively, but he’s good in front of goal too.”

Mesut Özil was playing for Westfalia 04 Gelsenkirchen's youth team as an eight year old, when Okocha moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to join Fenerbahce in 1996.

WRITER'S OPINION

Would have love to see the picture of little Özil back then.
