Adi breaks another MLS record

Written by: Oladayo Juan Joe Bamidele

Fanendo Adi has now become the third player in history to score 16 goals or more in consecutive Major League Soccer (MLS) seasons before clocking 27.

The Nigerian scored Portland Timbers' only goal in their 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids, taking his goal tally to 16 for this season.

Adi now joins Stern John and Jaime Moreno, who both hold the record.

The prolific striker is the third highest goal scorer in MLS this season with Sporting Kansas City's Dom Dwyer and Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco.

He has scored a total of 18 goals in all competition for the Timbers, being a joint record for the most goals scored in a single season across all competitions for the team. He is also the first player to score 18 goals in two different seasons for Portland.

Adi has now scored in five consecutive home matches for Portland Timbers.

WRITER'S OPINION

Time for Nigeria technical crew to think about this MLS man. His stats and records are indeed fabulous.
