Lyon's Algerian attacker Rachid Ghezzal is set to sign a new contract with French Ligue 1 club, as reported by L’Equipe.
The 24-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Everton last summer, but he opted to stay with the French team.
Ghezzal scored his first goal of the season after coming in as a substitute to secure a 2-0 win for Lyon against St. Etienne in Ligue 1.
He will be representing the Algerian national team this week as they begin their quest for the 2018 World Cup qualification.
It is expected that the club will confirm the attacker's new contract once he returns from his international duty.
"Rashid will go on Algerian selection and on return, he will announce good news. It would be a shame for him to miss the great adventure that will be Olympique Lyonnais this season,” said Lyon's president Jean-Michel Aulas.
WRITER'S OPINION
The Algerian deserves a better contract, as he is an important player in Lyon squad.
