Nigerian get red as team loose in Copa del Rey

Written by: Seye Tomori

UD Cornella’s Kenechukwu Uchenwa was sent off in their 2-1 loss to Hércules CF in Copa del Rey Third round played at Estadio José Rico Pérez Wednesday evening.

The Nigerian received a red card in the 57th minute after deliberately handling the ball in the penalty area.

The resulting penalty led to Lopez Gaspar scoring the spot-kick, giving Hércules a two-goal lead.

He had spent five years at Mallorca before signing for UD Cornella in the 2015 summer transfer. Making 29 starts in the Segunda B last season for the Catalonia based team, 12 yellow cards in those games and two red cards.

WRITER'S OPINION

Not a good one for the Nigerian, who had a history of getting booked. 14 bookings in less than 40 games is quite a bad record.
