Nigeria's Arsenal youngster back from injury

Oladayo Juan Joe Bamidele

Arsenal's Chuba Akpom has now resumed full training with the first-team squad ahead of their Boxing Day home game with West Brom.

The Nigerian-born England U21 international joined other players at the training at Colney on Saturday.

Akpom has been sidelined since September due to a back injury he had since the Gunners 4-0 rout of Nottingham Forest in the League Cup on September 20.

The 20-year-old will be hoping for more first team opportunities. He has however been largely used by the U23s coach, with established internationals Sanchez, Walcott and Giroud ahead of him in the pecking order.

Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi was equally part of the training session, with Sanchez, Ozil, Ramsey and other Arsenal stars.

WRITER'S OPINION

A starting place will be difficult for Akpom. However, regular playing time from the substitutes wouldn't hurt him.
