Chelsea star John Obi Mikel, 29, might be preparing to leave the team in the January transfer window, after manager Antonio Conte confirmed that the midfielder has not been
offered a new contract.
The Nigerian captain has not made any appearance for the club since the beginning of the season.
Conte told newsmen on Friday afternoon, “In every squad there are players who arrive at the end of their contract and then together the club will take a decision.
“The most important thing is that Mikel is working very well. I am pleased with his work rate.”
Reports have it that clubs in France, Turkey, Italy, United States and China are ready to move for him if he leaves Chelsea.
John Obi Mikel has been with the London Blues since 2006.
Writer's Opinion
Moving away from Chelsea will be a good one for Mikel, considering his lack of playing time at the club.
