Chelsea's Mikel considering MLS switch

Written by: Oladayo Juan Joe Bamidele

Nigeria star John Obi Mikel says there might be future possibility of joining Major League Soccer.

The 29-year-old central midfielder who has been with Chelsea for over 10 years, told news media, Goalthat that he will talk to other clubs in January, if he is not offered a new deal by Chelsea.

He said, “I am happy that [Lampard] is back to his best, doing what he loves to do and, one day, who knows, I may go over there and play against him, or play with him.”

Mikel is yet to play for Chelsea this season, having played 354 career games for Chelsea in EPL and cup competitions.

Mikel has won double EPL titles, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Europa League, four FA Cups and two League Cups with Chelsea. Making him one of the most successful Nigerians and African in Europe.

He won Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria in 2013, playing at the 2014 World Cup, also leading the Nigeria team in the 2016 Olympics, where they won a bronze medal.

MY VIEW
Mikel is undoubtedly an unsung hero at Chelsea. When given the chance, he plays to his best.

Antonio Conte should give him a chance, I'm sure he will put up his best, considering Matic's poor performance recently.
