Irate home fans beat referees in league game

Written by: Oladayo Juan Joe Bamidele

Violence erupts today at Umaihah as angry home fans of Abia Warriors descended on match officials after
FC Ifeanyi Ubah played a 1-1 draw at Abia Warriors in Umuahia Wednesday.

The match officials were Ago Abubakar (Central Referee), Tope Orowole and Sule Jimeta (Assistant Referee) and Ogunta Matador (Fourth Official).

According to an eyewitness, “The officials were seriously beaten, they suffered injuries from the attack of the home fan."

This match has earlier been shifted from being played during the weekend to today in order to make the place suitable for players, match officials and fans.

MY VIEW

I think the management of the Nigerian Football League should take a stiff punishment against Abia Warriors and the fans; this is 21st century, not 19th or 20th century.

Let's hear your opinion
