FIFA has ended it's association with annual football award, Ballon d'Or.
The world football governing body, FIFA has ended its six years association with the Ballon d'Or award for the world's best footballer.
The award which was started by France Football magazine in 1956, and has since been done on annual basis.
In the last six years however, it has come to be known as the Fifa Ballon d'Or in conjunction with FIFA, before the tie was broken yesterday.
Details of future plans will be made known by the French Magazine on Tuesday, 20 September.
It is believed that FIFA will now relaunch their own award, although no information has been released in that regard.
Barcelona star, Lionel Messi won four out of the six FIFA Ballons d'Or, with Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid winning the other two.
MY VIEW
Lovely move by FIFA. I have never be in support of associating with a private organization in giving out such prestigious award.
Let's wait and see what FIFA will do next.
