Algeria coach Milovan Rajevac was sacked on Tuesday, barely three months after he took charge.
The news came from Algerian public television, with a statement saying: “The Algerian Football Federation have decided to amicably terminate the contract of Milovan Rajevac.”
Algeria played a 1-1 home draw with Cameroon on Sunday as part of the final phase of African 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Nabil Neghiz and Yazid Mansouri (assistant coaches) will manage the national side on interim basis, until a new coach is appointed.
It was reported that many of the players reportedly called for his departure and blamed his tactics for the 1-1 draw with Cameroon.
Algeria are drawn alongside Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia un the group.
WRITER'S OPINION
I wouldn't call that a smart move from FAF, neither will I call it a bad one. But one thing is, Algeria is in the toughest group in the continent.
