African giant, Algeria are in line to sign a contract with former Belgium coach Marc Wilmots.
Marc Wilmots will be a replacement for former coach Milovan Rajevac, who quit his post after Algeria played a 1-1 home draw against Cameroon in World Cup qualifier.
Many top European coaches have been lined up to take the post, including Paul Le Guen and Alain Perrin were linked with the top post.
The Belgian is expected to sign the contract in Brussels.
He coached Belgium between 2012 and 2016, having served as assistant coach to Dick Advocat and Georges Leeskens.
During his time as Belgium coach, he had 34 wins, eight draws and nine losses.
WRITER'S OPINION
This is a good development from the Algeria camp. They needed to do the needful as they are in the hottest group in the qualifying phase in Africa.
Marc Wilmots is a good coach, considering his time as Belgium coach.
