First round draw for African Nations Cup 2017

The African Cup of Nations, GABON2017 group stage draw was done yesterday by CAF.

The tournament will be played between January 14 and February 5 in Libreville, Franceville, Oyem and Port Gentil; Gabon.

The tournament was under threat some months ago, following political unrest about presidential elections which was won narrowly by incumbent Ali Bongo. The situation however has since calmed.

Group A:
Gabon (seeded), Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau

Group B:
Algeria (seeded), Tunisia, Senegal, Zimbabwe

Group C:
Ivory Coast (seeded), Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Togo

Group D:
Ghana (seeded), Mali, Egypt, Uganda


It's really going to be an interesting tournament. With so many African footballers abroad featuring for their national team.
